When I started in crypto their were 1 or 2 projects launching daily.
Nowadays, literally 1000s of projects are launching EVERY DAY.
How many do you think are ACTUALLY going to make it?
The truth is, probably less then 0.001% will be around in 2027+
Today we're going to talk about all the marketing mistakes these shitcoins are making and how to avoid these mistakes for your project.
This way you and get a successful launch without stumbling into the shitcoin graveyard.
1. DONT FALL FOR YOUR OWN HYPE AND GET LAZY
Collabs, KOLs, airdrops, referral programs. It's easy to think that once you have all this set up, your project will thrive and hit $1b mc easy af, so no need to do anything else.
This is simply not true.
As soon as you take your foot off the pedal, you may roll for a bit, but ultimately you're going to stop and head straight back down the hill.
As a founder or core team member of a project, you should ALWAYS be actively grinding for the next level on your chart. Raise more money, scale, acquire, partner. if you stop to take a breather, you may come back to an empty chat and a dead chart. No cope in the world will be valid if you arent executing your plan and adapting constantly.
2. DONT PLACE DEVELOPMENT OVER MARKETING
Of course, if you have a finished product, that's great, but how do you plan to get this in front of people if you spent all your money on servers, node development, ai agents and other crap. I have been part of many different projects that don't spend their money right. Aim for MVP with no more the 30% of your total budget. if you can't reach MVP, create an "MVP Demo.mp4". This is a video of the product working to show you have progressed and are active as a project. This might seem kinda fraud-like but in reality, this is a trailer :- a powerful marketing tool. Take Apple for example. They literally showed a live demo of their first macbook to a filled theatre of investors. Was this ACTUALLY the case? No. They rigged the whole thing act like it was working but it was infact completely broken behind the scenes.
So if you're GameFi, dont spend all your money building multiplayer servers that nobody will understand or see. BUILD A TRAILER.
If you're DeFi, dont give 100k to a dev to build a protocol over a year. BUILD A "LIVE DEMO.mp4".
If you're AI, Don't spend your money training a neural network. BUILD THE UI and SHOW A "LIVE DEMO.mp4"
Are you starting to get it?
Spend your money on what people will actually see. To begin with anyway...
This way they can share it, talk about it and generate hype for your project.
Nobody wants a trailer of the dev console running code. They want a product demo.
3. DONT MARKET IN A DEAD MARKET
This might sound obvious but the amount projects I see failing because they launch when btc is 30% down is crazy.
Why are you blowing your whole marketing budget getting eyes on your project? There's literally no VCs looking to invest, no normies trying to find the next solana, no KOLs pushing projects.
The counter to this is something like "BuT If i StArT MaRkEtiNg My PrOjEcT NoW, It'LL gEt TrAcTiOn iN tImE FoR ThE BuLL rUn!"
This is dumb. You are basically saying, "Lets go fishing in a lake with 2 fish."
If we are coming out of a halvening, yes you can start organic marketing, but don't spend your budget if they market isnt green.
Or as Winston Churchill once said. "When it comes to crypto, keep cooking until the market is looking, then start pushing."
So bluntly. Let me spell this out for you..
If you've got a project and you're ready to launch a presale or token, THEN the market shits it out 30%, DONT LAUNCH. EVERYONE IS GONE.
Try organic marketing. Airdrops, referrals etc until the people come back. If you have staff, this is what you make them do. They'll hate it, but it's crunch time, the whole team must adapt.
4. DONT IGNORE YOUR COMMUNITY
Maybe you've raised 500k. All things are great. Maybe you're sat on a $50m mc and your devs are crushing it.
Suddenly, a bunch of people in your community say "I hate this new feature, it sucks."
Maybe you decide to ban them. because - how dare they insult your intelligence. You are the GOAT after all, you've made it this far.
This is a critical mistake I see many project making and i see it completely unravel their projects.
Why?
Most users wont say anything, they'll simply stop using the product and use your competitor instead.
Now, of course there is a filtering process here. some people are just assholes. but if you're getting a lot of "i dont like this and this is why" note it down, run a poll if you have to, have a team meeting, then fix it.
Ignoring it and falling victim to your ego will kill your project.
5. DONT IGNORE VIRAL TRENDS
Election happening all over socials? Nah, my gamefi project is nothing to do with that.
Taylor swift just fell over on stage? Nah, Im defi, we'll ignore that.
New AI released that can run locally on a phone? Nah, my project is an NFT marketplace, no need to address it.
Guys. This is super important. If ANYTHING is trending, you should be marketing specifically around it. lets use these examples and do the correct thing:
Election happening all over socials? Release a meme on socials about gamers not caring about the election.
Taylor swift just fell over on stage? Release a campaign about high APY on the TAYLORFALLS memecoin.
New AI released that can run locally on a phone? Partner with an AI agent NFT Project that can be access via mobile.
You are after impressions. Even if you dont get people buying your coin from this, you WILL get engagement. Engagement means the social algo will push you to more people. NOTHING is invalid. EVERYTHING is a marketing opportunity. The only exception to this is super controversial events like natural disasters, attacks etc. Besides that, go wild because it's if it's viral, it's an opportunity to boost your socials.
And that's what I've got for you guys today. Hopefully this helps you stay out of the crypto graveyard. obvs there are many more than what I've listed here today so if you have any, be sure to throw it down below
